Frequently Asked Questions

We know you are excited to start your pottery journey so here are a few Frequently Asked Questions to help you get the most out of your session.

What do I wear? Please wear clothes that can get messy, an apron is provided.  Please tie long hair up and make sure your nails are an appropriate length, you may struggle to throw with long nails!

Can I wear rings? Id suggest you remove all jewellery from hands and wrists. (no rings or watches etc). You're fully responsible for your personal belongings.

Are drinks available? Feel free to bring a water bottle although we have a wonderful cafe on site so feel free to pop in and grab a takeaway before we start. NO food allowed in the studio.

What if I cant make my class?  We do run a tight studio with a busy schedule, that said we are super flexible as long as you give us fair warning and a genuine reason for your cancellation or postponement we will try to find you an alternative date.

Will I get a refund? Vouchers or workshop bookings will NOT be refunded. I am a small independant business and it is not sustainable to offer refunds. If we need to cancel a course/class due to tutor illness or low booking numbers a full refund and/or alternative date will be offered.

How long does my workshop booking/voucher last? Group classes and themed sessions you have 6 months to book as of April 25th 2026. Private classes and courses you have 4 months to get booked in from April 25th 2026.

Can I take pictures?  YES!! Especially if its for social media and you tag us! @amberbpottery. I will be doing the same so if you aren't comfortable with that just let me know!

When can I collect my pieces?  Your pieces will be ready within 4 - 6 weeks after your workshop, and we will email you when they are ready for collection.

What will I make?  If you are coming for 1-2-1 2 hour session you will make approximately 4 - 6 pieces on the wheel.  We will choose the best pieces to keep and glaze. If you are on a course you will of course make more pieces and we will challenge you each week with more clay and different shapes. Intermediate classes will be challenged to make complex shapes with larger amounts of clay. Group classes or pottery for 2 you will make 1-2 handbuilt pieces and 1 thrown piece.

Is there parking on site? Yes! Plenty of parking on site. Accessible parking is in the second courtyard. Please park in the second courtyard if you are coming for an evening workshop.

Do all pots survive the kiln? Due to the nature of ceramics not all pots make it out of the kiln firing process in once piece - we will do our best to rake care of your creations but cannot be responsible if pots are damaged or destroyed int he firing process and unfortunately we cannot offer refunds if this occurs.
